As they trotted along the winding trail, Cable’s attention was caught by a fluttering butterfly with dazzling blue wings. It danced in circles above him, and without thinking twice, Cable followed it deeper into the woods. The butterfly flitted from flower to flower, leading Cable further away from his pack. The forest seemed to grow thicker around him as he chased after it; each step took him farther from his family’s familiar voices.

As Cable started to walk, he heard a gentle voice. “Hello there,” said a wise old owl perched on a low branch. Her feathers were as white as snow, and her eyes twinkled kindly. “You look lost,” she hooted softly. Cable nodded and shared what happened. The owl smiled knowingly and said, “Listen carefully to the forest sounds; they will guide you.”
Cable thanked the owl and trotted along the path lined with fallen leaves that crackled under his paws. Soon he met a busy squirrel gathering acorns. “Focus on your mission,” chattered the squirrel cheerfully while balancing an acorn in its tiny paws. Cable nodded eagerly, feeling more confident with each new friend’s advice. Keeping these lessons in mind, Cable began to recognize familiar landmarks from earlier that day—a crooked tree here, a bubbling brook there—as hope flickered in his heart like a warm flame.

When Cable trotted into view, his mother rushed over and nuzzled him warmly. “We were worried about you!” she said gently, her eyes shining with love. Cable wagged his tail proudly and shared what had happened: how he’d stayed calm, listened to new friends, and found his way back by remembering their path. The other wolves listened intently, nodding in approval.
That night, as they nestled together under the twinkling stars, Cable felt a warm glow inside him. He had learned that being curious was wonderful but even more so when paired with patience and focus. Surrounded by his family, who praised his bravery and resilience, Cable drifted off to sleep with a contented sigh, knowing he could always find his way home again.
