Just then, something blue and brilliant caught his eye. A butterfly with wings like pieces of sky danced past him, its movements light and carefree. “Wow,” whispered Cable, captivated by its beauty. Without another thought, he leaped up and began to follow the butterfly’s playful flight deeper into the forest.
As Cable trotted after the mesmerizing creature, his paws crunched softly on leaves and twigs that carpeted the forest floor. Sunlight filtered through the tall trees above, painting playful patterns on his fur. The deeper he ventured, the more wonders he saw—squirrels chattering in branches and birds flitting from tree to tree. But as he wandered further away from his family, shadows began to stretch longer across the ground.

But then, Cable pauses and looks around. The bright blue butterfly has disappeared, leaving him alone among the towering trees. He feels a little twinge of worry in his chest as he realizes he’s not sure which way leads back to his family. “Stay calm,” he whispers to himself, remembering his mother’s wise words.
Determined to find his way, Cable spots a small hill peeking through the trees ahead. Climbing it might give him a better view of where he is! With careful steps, he makes his way up the hill. At the top, Cable sees familiar landmarks—the shimmering brook where they rested and the tall pine tree near their den. Hope fills his heart as he plans to head back home before night falls completely.

With each step he takes, he listens carefully to the sounds of the forest. There’s a soft rustle here and an owl’s hoot there. Then, something wonderful happens—he hears the distant howls of his family calling out to him! His heart leaps with joy as he follows their voices through the trees.
At last, Cable sees his pack waiting for him by the brook under the moonlight. They greet him with warm nuzzles and happy barks. His mother smiles proudly and says, “You were very brave, Cable.” Feeling safe and loved, Cable snuggles into the warmth of his family, knowing that even when adventures lead you far from home, you can always find your way back.
